Taostats API v1: a new, faster backend
The new Taostats API launches October 8. It's a ground-up rebuild: written entirely in Rust and backed 100% by ClickHouse. It's faster, lighter, and handles years of historical chain quirks correctly.
Under the hood
- Rust end to end. The whole API is compiled Rust, so responses are quick and the service is lean.
- 100% ClickHouse. It's a columnar analytics database built for scanning large ranges of chain history, so history queries come back fast.
- Historical chain nuances sorted out. Bittensor's history includes runtime upgrades, migrations and changes in storage format. The new backend handles them, so the numbers hold together across the full timeline.
What's new for you
- Live chain reads. Some fields come straight from the chain at the finalized head. For example, any wallet's unclaimed root basket is at
/v1/accounts/{address}as root_basket_claimable_tao. - A full OpenAPI spec. Every endpoint, parameter and sort option is documented, so you can generate an SDK from it directly.
- Clear null handling. null means unknown and "0" means zero, so a failed read never shows up as an empty balance.
- 123 endpoints in one place: blocks, extrinsics, events, accounts, subnets, validators, baskets, miners, tax, EVM, and TradingView, CoinGecko and CMC feeds.
- A built-in JSON-RPC proxy to Bittensor nodes, lite and archive.
Your existing API key works with the new API. New endpoints live under /v1/, and the old ones stay under /api/.
| Period | Old API (/api/…) | New API (/v1/…) |
|---|---|---|
| Oct 8 – Nov 9 | Live | Live |
| From Nov 9 | Switched off | Live |
Both run side by side for 30 days. After November 9, only the new API answers, so move your integrations now.
